1–2 hour activity: A CPD Activity that takes place within two hours. A practitioner may earn CPD units or points for completing a minimum of 30 minutes of an accredited CPD activity, meaning this accreditation is required for a CPD activity no shorter than 30 minutes and no longer than two hours in duration.
Half day activity: A CPD Activity that is longer than two hours, but no longer than four hours in duration.
Activity longer than half day: A CPD Activity that is longer than four hours in duration. For events that comprise one or more interactive activities that proceed for more than four hours, including a conference or course, this is the appropriate activity.

On the application of a person who is not an approved QA Provider, the Legal Practice Board may accredit a legal education activity provided, or to be provided, by the applicant as an accredited CPD activity. When accrediting an activity under this rule, the Legal Practice Board is to determine the number of CPD units or points and the allocation of CPD units or points to fields or categories for the CPD activity.
In considering an application for accreditation of a CPD Activity, the Legal Practice Board requires information addressing the criteria set out below. Each item of the criteria should be addressed in a supporting statement accompanying this application form, and supported by relevant information and documentation.
The external examiner is the person who will be responsible for the examination of the practice. They will have access to the practice’s documents and will be able to make recommendations to the Legal Practice Board.

An organisation that primarily delivers legal education activities, in a manner that involves a commercial purpose, in that the provider has a business interest in providing one or more legal education activities.
A law society or other legal membership society or body (other than a volunteer or community organisation), a law school, or large professional association.

A community legal centre within the meaning given in section 6(1) of the Legal Profession Uniform Law (WA), being:

whether or not it is a member of a State or Territory association of community legal centres, and whether or not it is accredited or certified by the National Association of Community Legal Centres; and
- a community legal service; or
- a community legal centre; or
- an Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander Legal Service;
- is established and operated on a not-for-profit basis; and
- provides legal or legal-related services that—
limited to providing CPD activities to an employee or volunteer of the community legal centre.
- are directed generally to people who are disadvantaged (including but not limited to being financially disadvantaged) in accessing the legal system or in protecting their legal rights; or
- are conducted in the public interest…”.
A group of 2 or more legal practitioners, or small law practices, formed for the purpose of providing CPD activities to members of that group.
An organisation as defined in section 6(1) of the Legal Profession Uniform Law (WA) providing in-house CPD activities to an Australian legal practitioner of the law practice at a nil or minimal cost to cover the reasonable expenses of delivering the legal education activities.1
