Application for a Local Practising Certificate for the 2016/2017 Financial Year

The Legal Profession Rules 2009 provide that the standard renewal period for renewal of practising certificates is from 1 May until 31 May each year. Applications received during this time pay the standard application fee of $1250 (plus a $20 contribution to the Solicitors Guarantee Fund if required).

Commencing on Tuesday 26 April 2016 renewal notices will be issued by email to all holders of local practising certificates, other than those who have already advised the Board they will not be applying for a practising certificate for the 2016/2017 financial year,. If you have not received a renewal notice by Wednesday 4 May 2016 please advise the Board by email to general@lpbwa.com and a renewal notice will be issued to you.

Access to the online Practising Certificate application portal will be available starting Sunday 1 May 2016. Click on the link for instructions on how to log into the portal and how to change your password.

As the Board’s preferred method of communication is now by email, local legal practitioners should ensure that they keep the Board updated with their business email address. If you are unsure if the Board has your correct business email address you can update it by email to general@lpbwa.com
