Annual election of Board members
In accordance with section 38 of the Legal Profession Uniform Law Application Act 2022 (Application Act), Board members include 12 local legal practitioners.
A local legal practitioner must have at least three years’ standing and practice and is elected as a member (elected Board members).
An elected Board member holds office for a term of two years from the date of becoming a member, and is eligible for re-election.
2023 annual election of Board members
The annual election of Board members must be held on the first Tuesday in April each year. The 2023 annual election of Board members will be held on Tuesday, 4 April 2023 for 6 positions.

Notice of election of Board members – Changes to voting system
As at 5:00pm Tuesday, 7 March 2023 the Legal Practice Board (Board) received 7 nominations for election as a Board member for 6 positions. An election is called and all local legal practitioners will be eligible to vote.
Changes to voting
A hybrid voting system has been implemented by the Board and will be conducted by CorpVote Pty Ltd.
A local legal practitioner may choose whether to vote using the online voting system or ballot paper.
Who is conducting the ballot process?
CorpVote Pty Ltd is independently conducting this voting process. CorpVote Pty Ltd have been appointed by the Board to protect your privacy and ensure a fair voting process. All votes submitted are strictly confidential and secure. This is a secret ballot process.
Ballot period
Voting will open on Thursday, 23 March 2023 and close at 12:00pm (AWST) on Tuesday, 4 April 2023.
How to vote
Local legal practitioners are able to cast a vote online, or by requesting a postal ballot pack. You will only be able to vote once and your vote will be registered anonymously.
You can request a postal vote pack to be sent to you. If so, please contact CorpVote Pty Ltd support at support@corpvote.com.au or on 1300 710 950. Applications for postal voting packs will close at 5:00pm (AWST) on Wednesday, 29 March 2023.
What do I need to do to vote?
In order to vote, you will require your Voter Access Code and your LPB ID number. Your Voter Access Code will be sent to you by email at the time the vote opens.

Election results
The 6 nominees with the highest number of votes cast will be elected as members of the Board for a 2 year period commencing Thursday, 6 April 2023.
Notification will be provided to the profession and the outcome published on the Board’s website and the Gazette.
