Update in the use of Postnominals and National Day of Mourning

The Legal Practice Board offers their condolences to the family of Her Majesty Queen Elizabeth II upon her passing.

The accession to the throne of His Majesty Charles III the appointments of persons as Queen’s Counsel will automatically become King’s Counsel (or KC). No action is required and the Board will update its records accordingly.

Prime Minister Anthony Albanese announced that Thursday, 22 September 2022 will be a public holiday to coincide with a memorial service for the Queen. The Legal Practice Board’s offices will be closed that day and will reopen on Friday, 23 September 2022.
