2024/25 Practising Certificate applications under review

12 July, 2024

All applications for the renewal of a practising certificate are under review.

The Board appreciates your patience during this process.

Practitioners will be notified by email when their digital practising certificate is available on the Board’s website new Service Hub. For practitioners who have requested a hard copy certificate, it will arrive in the traditional fashion.

If a practitioner has lodged a complete application for a practising certificate before 30 June the expired certificate will remain in force while we review the renewal application. Please note, to engage in legal practice on and from 1 July 2024 a practitioner must be covered by, or exempt from, professional indemnity insurance for the 2024/2025 period.

If a practitioner has not lodged a complete application for a practising certificate by 30 June 2024 that practitioner will not be entitled to engage in legal practice.

A practitioner can lodge an application to renew a practising certificate by 31 December 2024. However, that application must be accepted by the Board before it is considered a renewal application, and further late fees will apply.

A practitioner not intending to renew their practising certificate must notify the Board.

Please see the practising certificate Frequently Asked Questions on the Board’s website for more information, or contact the Board’s Assessment and Enquiries team on enquiries@lpbwa.com or (08) 6211 3600 for further assistance.
