The Articles Training Program is a course administrated and conducted by the Legal Practice Board for training of articled clerks.
The ATP works in conjunction with the articled clerk’s workplace experience to:
prepare articled clerks for the first few years of general practice; and
provide a foundation for subsequent practice.
The ATP is not a substitute for articles. Rather, the ATP seeks to ensure some uniformity of pre-admission training and standards assessment.
The courses at the ATP are designed so that in conjunction with workplace experience, clerks will be able to satisfy the National Competency Standards for the admission of an entry level lawyer.
A copy of the National Competencies can be accessed at www.cleaa.asn.au/aplec.
